ONCASPAR (pegaspargase) in the First Line Treatment of Adolescents and Young Adults with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Shire would like to personally invite you to a special presentation on ONCASPAR (pegaspargase). This live session will provide a unique opportunity to interact with your peers and our guest speaker in a facilitated discussion about the distinct needs and treatment of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The speaker will also take general questions on ALL after the formal presentation.

Topic 1: Tragedy to Triumph, Missy Owens, CEO and Co-Founder of the Davis Direction Foundation
Missy will discuss up to date local, state, and national statistics that relate to the growing opioid epidemic, discussing the reasons why they continue to increase. Missy will tell the story of her son’s addiction and how it affected the entire family. She tells of a community that was caught off guard with the emergence of such a fatal drug problem and why more and more young people continue to get caught up in this opioid epidemic. Missy will share the details of how the Davis Direction Foundation was born and, the community yield that resulted in ‘The Zone’, Cobb County’s first and only Recovery Community Organization and a National Model of Recovery.
Topic 2: Current Trends in Youth Nicotine Use, Laura Searcy, PNP, NAPNAP President
A recent Surgeon General’s report highlights the growing concern about E-cigarette and other ENDS use by youth. E-cigarettes have surpassed cigarettes as the most commonly used tobacco product by middle school and high school students This talk will review the current knowledge of brain development explaining teens are more susceptible to addiction than adults. This developmental perspective will be applied to reviewing current trends in youth use of nicotine and prevention practice and policy implications.
